thai cooking class with el gastronomo
Learning, learning, learning. As I have mentioned previously, this is the name of the game for me in 2011. This past Sunday I stuck to my game plan and made my way out to St. Catharine’s for a private cooking class with my good friend Chelsey.
The cooking class was done by Adam and Tamara of el gastronomo vagabundo (from peapod cuisine) and was hosted in their lovely home. Together, Tamara and Adam run a catering company and a mobile food truck which has taken the beauty of gourmet street food to the Niagara region.
The menu for our class was Thai-inspired and included Tom Kha Gai soup, Red Curry with Pineapple and Tofu, and Chili-Infused Chocolate Fondant Cakes. Yum, yum and yum. Adam was full of helpful cooking tips and even offered a few pointers to improve our knife skills (something I so desperately need to improve).
Adam’s experience and imagination with food was very evident in the recipes we prepared and the instruction he provided. He flat out rejects the ordinary and loves to challenge his clients to step outside of their culinary comfort zone.
I left the class feeling inspired to get in the kitchen, nostalgic of my own time in Thailand, and incredibly FULL. Now let’s see if I can recreate any of it without a professional chef in the room!
If you are interested in cooking classes, catering, or even personal chef services (and you’re up for a taste of the globe), el gastronomo comes highly recommended. Have a chat with them and see what they can do for you! You’ll love them. Promise. Email Adam and Tamara at info@peapodcuisine.com

This looks so great. I truely need to learn a thing or everything in the kitchen. Also, let’s go back to Thailand immediately.
We are so due for another Thai adventure. Dying to go back!
